Canton, Mich & Guatemala City — March 23, 2026 — Yazaki North America, Inc. (YNA) announced an agreement to advance construction of a second manufacturing plant in Guatemala, strengthening its presence in Central America.
Senior leaders from YNA, including Kenichi Fujisawa, President and Chief Executive Officer, and Jerry Moyers, Chief Operating Officer, were on hand for the signing ceremony. The agreement was signed on behalf of the Government of Guatemala by Gabriela Garcia, Minister of Economy, with Bernardo Arevalo, President of Guatemala, presiding.
The new facility will be located in the municipality of Pajapita, within the Department of San Marcos, approximately seven kilometers east of Yazaki’s existing plant in Ayutla. The plant will manufacture electrical wire harnesses for vehicles, including programs supporting the Ford F-150.
“Guatemala has demonstrated a strong foundation of skilled craftsmanship and operational excellence,” said Kenichi Fujisawa, Chief Executive Officer of YNA. “The quality of work delivered by the Guatemalan workforce has been a decisive factor in our decision to expand operations with a second manufacturing plant.”
President Bernardo Arevalo expressed his appreciation to Minister Gabriela Garcia and her team for their collaboration with Yazaki in securing the investment, noting its importance to regional economic development and job creation in the San Marcos Department.
Initial land movement has already begun at the Pajapita site. The 35,000‑square‑meter manufacturing facility is expected to begin operations as early as September 2027 and to employ nearly 3,500 people once it reaches full capacity.
Additional dignitaries attending the event included Ryosuke Kuwana, Ambassador of Japan to Guatemala, and John M. Barrett, Chargé d’Affaires of the United States Embassy.
Ambassador Kuwana noted that based on his visit last May to Yazaki’s Ayutla facility, he is confident the new plant will be highly successful and deliver meaningful economic benefits to the San Marcos region.
