May 2, 2024

CANTON, MICH. – May 02, 2024 – Yazaki North America is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the prestigious 2024 Automotive News PACE Award for its innovative battery busbar module technology. The award recognizes Yazaki's commitment to advancing automotive technology while addressing the evolving needs of drivers worldwide.

Yazaki’s solution, a battery busbar module utilizing a flexible printed circuit (FPC), represents a significant step forward in the automotive industry. This innovative design allows for a thinner and lighter battery assembly, reducing weight by 51 percent and saving 60 percent more space compared to previous iterations of wire-based busbar modules. This advancement enables greater battery pack capacity, contributing to longer ranges for electric vehicles and alleviating range anxiety among owners.

Kenichi Fujisawa, President and CEO of Yazaki North America, expressed gratitude for the recognition, stating, "We prioritize collaboration and partnership. By working closely with our OEM customers, we gain invaluable insights into the needs of drivers worldwide. This award reaffirms our collective efforts to meet these challenges head-on."

In the realm of electric vehicles, Yazaki remains dedicated to pioneering solutions that not only extend range but also prioritize safety and efficiency. Leveraging FPC technology, Yazaki's space-saving solution optimizes battery volume without compromising safety or reliability.

The 2024 Automotive News PACE Awards, now in their 29th year, recognize auto supplier technical innovations that have been embraced by customers and successfully integrated into commercial production processes.
