Yazaki’s Annual United Way Fundraising Campaign Reaches Goal
January 10, 2018

Canton, Mich., January 10, 2018 – Once a year in October, YNCA holds its fundraising campaign benefiting the United Way.The funds raised by the yearly campaign go to local communities in need of support. This year, we again exceeded its fundraising goal! This is a significant accomplishment and will provide support to those in need.

The annual campaign included a raffle, chili cook off, Pinewood derby, bake sale, restaurant give backs, and an online payroll deduction donation program.

This year’s campaign led by Ken Pichla, Head of Strategic Purchasing and Ryan Spencer, Head of Information Technology, was supported by 16 employees across all departments who volunteered their time and expertise to put together this year’s campaign activities.

“It was a pleasure to be the co-chair of this event for another year, and having Ryan Spencer’s support proved invaluable,” said Pichla. “With that said, our involvement is secondary to the great core team of volunteers that make up the planning team with their countless hours of work driving to the outstanding results.”

Spencer reiterates this point adding, “They made every event a fun and exciting way to engage the team.  I am humbled and honored to be part of such a great company and group."

Yazaki’s partnership with the United Way goes back to 1990. For 27 years, Yazaki has donated to the charity serving those who need it most.

“I am deeply impressed by the generosity of our Yazaki employees. Giving back to the community is a fundamental value of our company‘s mission and I am proud to be a part of such a caring organization,” said Spencer.

United way focuses on an ultimate goal of building stronger communities through improving public services and driving change through public, private, and nonprofit partners. Their contributions go toward strategies in key areas such as education, economic prosperity, and health. These areas include programs that offer career training, family support services, quality childcare, college and career pathways, heath care access, and more. “Each year I see renewed spirit in activities, and contributions from our employees. It never ceases to amaze me of the efforts and generosity exhibited, and this year’s campaign was no different,” said Ken. “In my opinion, this is an event that exhibits the core values and spirit we strive to achieve.”
